About Dr. Royer

Dr. Bryan D. Royer has been a chiropractic physician in the Sylvania and Toledo area since 2005.

He graduated summa cum laude as the class salutatorian from the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in 2004. Dr. Royer’s earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology from the University of Dayton in 1999 and another Bachelor of Science with a major in Human Biology in 2002 from NUHS. He received multiple honors, scholarships and awards while being extremely involved with extracurricular activities while attending undergraduate and chiropractic school .

Dr. Royer graduated from a post-graduate program in functional neurology, a clinical field that can help improve the quality of life for those patients with movement disorders, traumatic brain injuries, vertigo and dizziness among other problems.

He went on to earn his Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB), which certifies him as a functional neurologist. He was the first chiropractic neurologist in the Toledo area and one of the few in the state of Ohio. He continues to further his education and has taken a variety of specialized classes in vestibular disorders and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and concussion. Due to his certifications and specialized training, Dr. Royer is one of only a few chiropractic physicians in Ohio who is authorized to return a concussed youth athlete to play.

Dr. Royer also took classes in sports medicine from the Medical Director of the US Olympic Committee and achieved his Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) credentials.

He has been certified in Graston Technique and in Kinesio Taping as well. He has taken extensive post-graduate classes in clinical nutrition and impairment ratings for disability evaluation. Since chiropractic school, Dr. Royer has had an interest in “the wellness of the whole individual, not just being a back doctor.”

Dr. Royer believes that getting a person better is the priority and does not favor the chiropractic adjustment over all other things. He is the first chiropractor in the Toledo area (only 2 in the area) that has has taken multiple courses in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT), which is also known as McKenzie Technique. While Dr. Royer treats most using the chiropractic adjustment, he recognizes that sometimes chiropractic manipulation is not the best treatment for a patient and that a good doctor has low force options available. This is also why Dr. Royer uses Activator Technique in his office regularly.

Dr. Royer became certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) Level 1, which is a movement based diagnostic system and provides healthcare professionals with an efficient and systematic tool to reach a comprehensive movement diagnosis regarding stability and/or motor control dysfunctions as well as mobility dysfunctions.

He focuses on musculoskeletal problems in his practice but also enjoys helping people with nutritional deficits and allergy problems. He is also trained to be able to perform electrodiagnostic studies to include Nerve Conduction Velocity testing and needle Electromyography, which is used to diagnose nerve problems like weakness, numbness/tingling, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or sciatica.

Dr. Royer receives referrals from local healthcare professionals, including other chiropractors, to diagnose and treat difficult cases. Dr. Royer has obtained a multitude of certifications and is considered to be in the top tier of the chiropractic profession.
